Here are some simple, easy detox methods you can do at home using ingredients you most likely have in your house. And, it costs just pennies! I have used these methods on a regular basis over the last several years. I do take breaks from doing these all the time so tailor it to your needs. As with anything, do your own research and check with your doctor to make sure these methods are safe for you. There are multiple articles on the internet discussing these detox methods.

BAKING SODA/SEA SALT or EPSOM SALT BATH (top of page)

Baking Soda and Epsom Salts or Sea Salt can be a very beneficial detoxification and help remove toxins from the body.  Baking Soda helps to alkalinize the body and most people are acidic due to their diets.  Epsom Salts contain magnesium sulfates and many are deficient in magnesium, a very important nutrient necessary for our health.  Sea Salt also has a detoxifying effect on the body.

 Variations:

  • ½ cup of Epsom salts or Sea Salt
  • ½ cup  Baking Soda

Moderately hot water (Caution:  you may feel dizzy after the soak due to the hot water and possibly release of toxins.  Relax or lay down after the bath)

Soak approximately 20 minutes (longer may release toxins faster which may cause some flu-like symptoms)

 Or

  • 1 cup Baking Soda
  • 1-2 cups Epsom Salts or Sea Salt

Bath info the same as above

 Or

  • 1 lb. of Baking Soda in bath; soak 20 minutes

Options:  Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil

Suggestion: Take a detoxification bath once a week or once every 2 weeks on a regular basis.

Magnesium Crystals (top of page)

This is not for internal use. Most people are deficient in magnesium and you need a sufficient amount of magnesium in the body to utilize calcium properly. This is an amazing product that has multiple uses.

Bath: 1 cup of magnesium crystals in bath; soak for 40 minutes.
Foot bath: ¼ cup magnesium crystals in tub with water just enough to cover feet; soak 30-40 minutes

Mix magnesium crystals with water: 50% crystals, 50% water. Spray on bruises, swelling from injuries, aches and pains. This is phenomenal.

I buy from this company: Magnesoothe http://www.magnesoothe.com/  1-877-331-4252
Research online for the many other health benefits of magnesium.

My husband’s story: After a malfunction while riding his bicycle where he was thrown to the road and he was really banged up we used magnesium oil on the places he felt bruised and had swelling. Also I had him soak in a tub with magnesium. This was amazing at how little bruising occurred and how fast he healed. We did not put the oil directly on the road rash area as it stings but did put it all around the open wounds to keep the swelling down. We used nascent iodine and Bag Balm salve on the open cuts. The iodine aids as an antibiotic and helps limit scarring and the Bag Balm works as an antibiotic and keeps the scabs soft while healing.

Salt Purge for Toxins (top of page)

This is a great detox. Most people are carrying anywhere from 5-12 pounds, and possibly more, of sludge in their intestinal tract. This is a very inexpensive method that I have found to help me tremendously. I do it first thing in the morning, spend 3-4 trips to the bathroom and then it’s over – no all day bathroom trips.

Basic instructions:

  • 1 quart (4 cups) of purified water (I like to warm it up a bit)

  • 2 level teaspoons of sea salt

  • Drink the whole thing down in 10 minutes

The website below explains the whole method.

Oil Pulling (top of page)

Oil pulling has so many benefits. It helps to pull toxins and bacteria out of the mouth and gums to aid in a healthier mouth. Here are the basics but go to this website to learn more: http://www.oilpulling.com/

  • 1 tablespoon of oil (a cold pressed oil like sunflower, sesame or unrefined olive or
    coconut oil)

  • First thing in the morning, swish the oil in the mouth and pull through the teeth (like you did with jello as a kid)

  • Swish for at least 10 minutes

  • Spit the oil into the waste can (do not spit into the sink)

  • Swish mouth with fresh, purified water several times and brush teeth

Skin Brushing (top of page)

This is a simple, quick way to detox your biggest organ – the skin. Skin brushing removes dead skin cells, helps increase circulation, stimulates the lymph system and many more benefits. Here is just one of many websites explaining how to do skin brushing and touting the benefits of this great detox method.

Cider Vinegar Bath (top of page)

Apple cider vinegar is a powerful purifying and detoxifying agent. It helps pull toxins from the body and can clear blocked energy. Cider vinegar has many, many healing qualities which you can find by searching the internet.

NOTE: I always use the unfiltered cider vinegar.

  • 2 Cups of Apple Cider Vinegar added to warm bath

  • Soak for 20 minutes

There are multiple websites on the benefits of apple cider vinegar. Have fun exploring.
